비가 오는 날에는 압구정동이 아니라 바다에 가야 한다

나는 오늘처럼 하루종일 비가 내리면 도시를 벗어나

강릉과 속초사이에 있는 하조대 푸른바다를 실컷 들이키고 싶다

교양이 없는 이는 칭찬대신 능력의 한계를 말한다

잘 난 시인은 세상이 원하는 자신을 제대로 표현할 수 있을까

남들의 노력에 올라탄 자들은 얼마 못가서 자기 것이 없다는 사실을 알게된다

나는 그들보다 부자다 잃을 것이 없기때문이다

주제가 말보다 경험으로 다루어져야 잘 달리는 한 필의 명마가 나온다는 것을

그들은 알지 못한다 경험은 언제나 글쓰는 자의 안주인이다

나는 오늘도 그 말의 안장에 올라타고 안주인의 명령을 따를 것이다

오늘처럼 비가 오면 이 도시를 빠져나와 두 눈에 보이는 바다를 배부르게 마시고 싶다
